Bolon UK’s Marketing Director, Sarah Herman recently embarked on a fabulous three-day design retreat in Turin, Italy, filled with creativity, design inspiration, and rich cultural experiences organised by Kate Watson-Smyth aka, Mad about the House.
The journey began with a guided tour of Kate’s stunning house near Turin, an architectural gem steeped in history. Every corner of this remarkable home offered inspiration, from its intricate design details to its story, making it a true haven for lovers of interior design and architecture.
Over the course of three days, there were several highlights. An informative workshop led by Kate offered expert tips and tricks for designing your home, while styling advice came from the always-inspiring Nicole Grey, Interiors Director at YOU magazine, who shared her expert tips on enhancing beautiful spaces. An introduction to the power of colour by Fiona de Lys was equally enlightening, helping to understand how colour can be developed to transform a scheme.
Sunday was spent at the vibrant local market, where treasures and bargains were uncovered—an authentic taste of Turin's craftsmanship and artistry. The market experience added another layer of inspiration, showcasing the blend of tradition and innovation that the city is known for.
To top it off, the stay was at the Renzo Piano re-designed NH Lingotto Hotel, an iconic space that combines industrial heritage with modern luxury. The building, known for having the Fiat racetrack on its roof—famously featured in The Italian Job—added an historical touch to this design-filled journey.
It was truly a memorable few days, full of new ideas and inspiration. Kate is doing further design retreats which we highly recommended for anyone seeking a mix of interior design and creativity.
