Scroll down for quick facts on Bolon from a sustainability perspective.

  • FOUNDED ON VINYL WASTE

Bolon was founded on vinyl waste which was used to weave rag rugs back in 1949.

  • 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY

Our production site runs on 100 % renewable energy.

  • EMPLOYEE INVENTION

One of our awesome employees, Henrik Werder, invented the machine which allows us to grind down our flooring into pieces which can be used for recycling.

  • WITH CARE FOR PEOPLE

All our floors are recommended by the Norwegian Asthma and Allergy Association as they contribute positively to indoor air quality.

  • NEW RECYCLING FACILITY

In 2011, we built a 3,000 square meter production facility in Ulricehamn, Sweden. The following years, we built an onsite recycling facility in which all our flooring is recycled.

  • SUSTAINABLY CERTIFIED

We were one of the first companies in Sweden to become certified by the environmental management standard ISO 14000, and has since been awarded a swathe of low emissions certifications from bodies such as BRE Global, GreenTag, Floorscore, and BASTA.

  • ONLY LOCAL GROUNDWATER

We only use locally drawn groundwater, and no refrigerant, for cooling purposes. Our entire factory, warehouse, offices and every machine they contain are water-cooled. Even our heating pumps use local groundwater.

  • SIMPLE MAINTENANCE

A flooring that doesn't require harsh chemicals in its daily maintenance means less damaging substances into our precious water supplies. 99 % of the time, our floors get thoroughly clean with the help of water and a scrubbing brush.

  • DESIGNED AND PRODUCED IN SWEDEN

As well as the environmental benefits in terms of transport and logistics, being based in Sweden allows us to have full control over design and production processes.
