75 years of pushing recycling in the design industry

As a Swedish family-owned design company Bolon has spent 75 years turning waste into premium woven flooring and rugs. In 2024 we break new ground with exciting material innovations – all products now contain 68% waste material, with 0% climate impact in every square meter.

Our company started in 1949 with a bold idea – to transform textile waste into stylish rag rugs. Since the start, we have let sustainable innovation and development guide the company forward. Today we are known to fuse the traditional flooring branch with boundless creativity.

All manufacturing takes place in our climate-neutral factory in Ulricehamn, Sweden. Bolon has made a brave decision – to not offer a green collection. Instead, our sustainability work covers all our products.

In 2020, Bolon set an ambitious goal to halve the climate impact and ensure that all products contain at least 50% recycled material by 2028.

To achieve this we have spent the past few years investing in the right people, with the right knowledge that can turn bold ambitions into action and results, and it pays off.

- Sustainability has always been embedded in the DNA of the brand. During this year, we’re excited to implement BIO-Sourced PVC, recycled PVC and recycled chalk from marble slab production. We’ll surpass our goal substantially and will be able to offer 68% recycled material in all our products and 0% climate impact! Says CEO, co-owner Marie Eklund.

As innovators, we continue our ambitious work towards our vision, to thrill the world with brave innovation for a sustainable design experience!
